Game Blog Post 4: Course Reflection

This semester in Art 108, I’ve learned a lot about Unity and game design. I learned what the mechanics, dynamics, and aesthetics of a game are and how to find them when playing. I also learned about play testing and how important it is to have people playtest your game and get feedback on them. I really like that this class is based on games and that we get to play games for our midterms. For the final, we can create a game, honestly, it was challenging but so much fun and a great way to learn. We got to read about games from the articles and readings that were assigned and wrote a reflection blog post about them. We got to play games in class as assignments and create little board games to play with each other. My favorite was when we play a game as a class, we played a JackBox game where we could all join and it was super fun.

For the final project, I got to design a game with a partner and the game was a 3D car racing game. We created this game using Unity and Blender. As the artist in this project, I made the models and objects and the tracks for the game in Blender and exported them in FBX files, and sent them to my partner to import in Unity to do the rest of the magic.
